The Chamois ( Rupicapra Rupicapra) is no doubt one of most fascinating animals of the Iberian Peninsula. Lives in the Cantabrian mountains and Pyrenees, where its called “sarrio”.

Este bóvido vive en roquedos de media y alta montaña, en lugares a menudo inaccesibles donde se alimenta de la escasa vegetación que prospera entre las rocas.
This bovid lives in rocky areas of medium and high mountain, often in inaccessible peaks, were it feeds of the scarce vegetation that survive betwen the rocks.
Su aspecto recurda al de un antílope con un vistoso antifaz oscuro y dos cuernos en forma de gancho.
It´s appeareance remainds to an antelope with a dark mask and two horns with hook shape.

Las poblaciones de esta especie sufren importantes fluctuaciones poblacionales ya que son sensibles a diversas enfermedades como la sarna o el pestivirus.
The populations of this specie suffer from important fluctuations because its sensibility to several illness like the mange or the pestivirus.
Su observación es siempre sencilla ya que es el más diurno de los artiodactilos ibéricos y suele ser relativamente confiado, en especial en aquellos lugares donde su caza no esta permitida.
The observation it´s allways quite easy because its the most diurnal of the iberian even-toed ungulates and use to be quite calm, specially in those place where the hunting is not allowed.

En estas cumbres, quizás su pero enemigo sea el águila real, capaz de despeñar a las crías de los rebecos con suma facilidad.
Up in the peaks, maybe its first enemy is the Golden Eagle,capable of knock the chamois cubs off very easy.
La observación de rebecos siempre es agradable, es interesante ver a estos gráciles animales moverse por zonas inaccesibles.
Chamois watching its allways very nice, its interesting look thisgraceful animals moving by innaccessible areas.
